5 Things Women Can Do More To Empower Their Lives

While it can be said that women became less oppressed in today’s society, it is also true that they are still subject to great emotional upheavals.

In one way or another, women of all ages suffer from all kinds of mistreatment ranging from physical violence to psychological damages. Take this topic in a lighter tone, life for women is full of dramas as they are caught in a web of emotional struggles of discouragement, failures, hopelessness, and despair. It is a fact that people are talking behind their back, people whom they love do not love them enough, losing people they love, or even simply losing our jobs.

Women go through all these kinds of turmoil; the difference, however, is the way they will deal with these. Others let themselves drown, but an empowered woman will row her boat with all her might and emerge stronger in the process. This kind of woman can go through hell but can still look at life positively.

Aside from the benefit of gender equality, empowerment gives a woman the character she needs to realize her full capabilities. This, however, is a long process because some women are not entirely aware of the power and strength that they possess.

Here is a list to help women in this realization with the course of finding their selves and gaining confidence that we are happy to share:

#1. Travel More

Things women can doThrough traveling, women can learn a lot about life while having fun at the same time. There will be bumps in the road, literally and figuratively, but soon enough they will develop the skill to overcome these obstacles.

Travel ling could give women the opportunity to see a different perspective of life by going to new places and meeting new people. They could learn valuable skills especially in adapting to a new environment. Thus, they begin to blossom out of their comfort zones.

Moreover, traveling could give women some time to relax and to reassess and reevaluate their lives.

 #2. Read More

Borrowing the words of American author Ursula K. Le Guin, “We read books to find out who we are. What other people, real or imaginary, do and think and feel is an essential guide to our understanding of what we are and may become.”

This is to say that aside from improving the literacy of women, reading can help them understand who they are and who they want to be, and that is essential for them to improve their social positions and assert their rights.

#3. Networking More

It is a good thing that women nowadays are given more opportunities and venues to speak out their opinions. Going to personal development seminars and conferences is one site where women could find a place to belong to as they meet other people, women, that they can share similar experiences and thoughts with. Meeting this network of women could give one the thought that they are not alone, that they are all facing the same challenges and struggles, that every one of them is rowing the same boat. And if one drowns, there are a lot of other people who are willing to give support.

Likewise, this could also be a venue for women to make a difference, not just in their personal life but also to affect the lives of other suffering women. This is a two-way process where you can both listen and be heard. As such, you could be an agent of inspiration to others by helping them realize and accept who they are and what they can be.

 #5. Forgive More

Along the way, there is an extensive list of people who hurt you; yourself could also be included in the list. Many people let the anger and pain consume their hearts out by denying these people and also themselves forgiveness. They refuse to forgive and, in the process, were devoured by negativity.

Living in positivity, let all that pain go instead. Have the courage to move on and rewrite the mistakes that were made. Stop punishing yourself from this thing of the past and take a new look at life.

#5. Look After Their Body More

women-look-afterThere is a body image that almost all women try to conform. However, women should know the difference between looking fit and being fit. Looking fit is the unrealistic body standard that you could see in airbrushed covers of men’s magazines while being fit could just be achieved by a regular and healthy diet. You don’t have to starve yourself just to have that ideal waistline.

Don’t give yourself another reason to suffer, accept what you are instead by having a healthier and happier outlook towards your body.
